WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Seven Hills Paperboard Mill in Lynchburg, Virginia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor this position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving mechanical equipment throughout a 24/7 recycled paperboard manufacturing facility. This role may also support other maintenance and production leaders as business needs require.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the mill. Working within a team-based, multi-craft maintenance environment, you will apply your mechanical expertise to safely complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities while collaborating with Operations, Engineering, and fellow Maintenance team members to support production, safety, and quality objectives.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

In this role, you will:
·    Troubleshoot, repair, install, modify, and maintain mechanical equipment throughout the facility. 
·    Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime. 
·    Diagnose and repair pumps, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, piping systems, and other industrial equipment. 
·    Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and specifications. 
·    Fabricate, measure, layout, and repair equipment components. 
·    Use rigging equipment and safe lifting practices to install and repair equipment. 
·    Document maintenance activities and complete work orders using SAP or other CMMS systems. 
·    Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to safely complete repairs, outages, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
·    Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work, and risk assessments. 
·    Support a multi-craft maintenance environment as business needs require. 
Required Qualifications:
·    High school diploma or GED required; technical training, apprenticeship, military experience, or an associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related field preferred. 
·    Five (5) years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
·    Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical systems and rotating equipment. 
·    Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings. 
·    Knowledge of lubrication, rigging, and precision measurement techniques. 
·    Experience using SAP or another CMMS. 
·    Strong troubleshooting, analytical, mathematical, and communication skills. 
·    Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business systems. 
·    Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work assignments. 
Preferred Qualifications:
·    Experience in pulp and paper, chemical, steel, mining, wood products, or other continuous manufacturing environments. 
·    Multi-craft maintenance experience. 
·    Experience with welding, fabrication, machining, pipefitting, or precision alignment. 
·    Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. 
·    Experience with predictive maintenance or reliability-centered maintenance. 
·    Journeyman training, apprenticeship, or technical certification. 
·    Experience operating cranes, hoists, or other material handling equipment. 
Physical & Work Environment:
·    Ability to work overtime, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
·    Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals, and moving equipment. 
·    Ability to climb, bend, kneel, squat, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, in confined spaces, and safely operate tools and equipment. 
·    Ability to distinguish equipment conditions visually and hear alarms and verbal communication.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the local pay range for this position, which is $36.37 to $48.32 per hour, plus a shift differential of $0.80/hr. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments and an annual vacation payout/bonus (subject to change in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement guidelines). The targeted bonus amount after one year of employment can be up to 4% of gross earnings. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized including average overtime (44 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position, is $88,400.00 to $116,800.00. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and are not a guarantee. 
Additional Pay Incentives for This Role Include: 
·    Call-in pay (5 Hours * Hourly Rate before 1AM, 6 Hours * Hourly Rate after 1AM)
·    Standard Overtime after 40 weekly hours and 8 daily hours (Hourly Rate * 1.5) 
·    Holiday Pay after the probationary period (8 Hours at Hourly Rate + Hourly Rate * 1.5 for Hours Worked)
·    Attendance Incentive for Meeting Company Attendance Requirements (Up to $1,250.00 per year) 
·    Engagement Bonuses (Actual amount varies based on company performance among other factors)
·    Shift Differential of $0.80
·    Built-in Overtime (May vary)
