The Maintenance Mechanic III position in our Seattle, Washington plant is primarily responsible for investigating and problem-solving plant reliability issues ensuring all production lines maintain optimal runtime with minimal downtime within a manner consistent with CertainTeed Gypsum Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives (VMVO). The position supports the Plant in the rationalization of planned/unplanned maintenance equipment using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Continuous Improvement tools and methods. The position will also support strategic initiatives including capital and non-capital process equipment projects and provide leadership in the implementation and support of plant process modifications. 
 
This position requires mechanical skills as well as industrial experience or vocational training in mechanical maintenance. Experience in HVAC, hydraulics, basic electrical maintenance, is desired. Must be able to work well with others in a union environment. This is a represented position and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
 
Shift: Days 7:00am-7:00pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
·  Champions a safety-first environment and keeps up to date on new safety policies, procedures, and initiatives
·  Perform routine and preventive maintenance: Schedule and conduct regular inspections, service, and minor repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.  Reviews all required blueprints, drawings, and work orders to install, troubleshoot, and repair.  Checks, collects, and organizes all parts and tools prior to starting a job.  Support 5S and World Class Manufacturing initiatives.
·  Troubleshoot and repair: Diagnose and repair malfunctions, defects, and errors in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This includes performing emergency repairs when equipment fails unexpectedly.  Repairs hydraulic/pneumatic systems (airlines, solenoids), saws, dryers, mixers, plant systems, mills, and conveyors
·  Replace parts: Identify worn or damaged parts and replace them in a timely manner. Change grinding or cutting blades and/or bits. This may include fabricating replacement parts through machining welding parts for repair, retrofits, and modifications
·  Works with internal and external contacts: Complete Work Orders (WO) as assigned in a timely and cost-effective manner
·  Adheres to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to help address mechanical issues or upset conditions
·  Adheres to all housekeeping standards and ensures workspace is clean, safe, and in working order within assigned area(s)
·  Maintains in-depth and ongoing knowledge of assigned equipment, work area(s), procedural and safety updates
·  Works well with others in a team environment
·  Adheres to all company policies and procedures
·  Participates in daily pre-shift meetings
·  Participates in biweekly training/continuous improvement days
·  Must report to work on a consistent and timely basis 
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·  High school diploma or GED
·  Proven ability to read, write, interpret and/or apply instructions to assigned activities
·  1-3 Years' of experience with Industrial Mechanic Background and/or two or more years of school/Technical Training in the Manufacturing Industry
·  Experience working with electrical motors, start/stop circuits, water, and vacuum pumps, and chain/belt drive system
·  Display adaptability, customer focus, and good written and oral communication
·  Basic computer skills

What do you bring?
·     Two (2) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
·     Ability to work independently and deliver results
·     Must be able to read, interpret, draw materials, and build projects from blueprints with limited supervision producing first-time quality results
·     Must be able to figure, layout, cut, and fit complex parts and shapes using blueprints, existing structures, and template material
·     Ability to do other general building support including minor electrical, plastic, and metal pipe fabrication
·     Basic knowledge of the safe and proper use of shop tools, metal stud framing, drywall, painting, floor repair, and concrete repair

WORKING CONDITIONS
·    Works in a manufacturing plant environment with limited HVAC, concrete floors, and exposure to industrial noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature changes.
·    Normal plant operation is 24 hours, 7 days a week and work hours may vary depending on business needs.
·    May require long hours, and weekend and holiday work. 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
·    Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated
·    Perform tasks that require extensive and rigorous walking, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling, gripping, stair, and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain, and occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
·    May require long periods of sitting, walking, standing, working on a computer, or engaging in a telephone conversation

Provided is the pay rate for this position which is $39.00 per hour based on a union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), working Day shift (7am-7pm) typically. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for Quarterly bonus payments. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 5-6% based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
