Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Responsible for ensuring quality and packaging of CertainTeed Corner products in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining high productivity and a low scrap rate. Maintain a positive team environment and a focus on quality assurance and continuous improvement. Qualified in Operator and Tail-Off position to a limited product set as defined below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Working Safe. Follows procedures, checklists, and safety protocols
  • Qualified to Tail-Off a production line producing: NoCoat O/S 90, NoCoat 325, Levelline O/S 90, Levelline Flex,
  • Qualified to Operate a production line producing: NoCoat O/S 90, NoCoat 325, Levelline O/S 90, Levelline Flex
  • Inspect products for flaws and defects, immediately alert the team of any problems or defects immediately, and package each product correctly
  • Keep lines and production floor clean and free of debris and stocked for incoming shifts
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (i.e. work orders), read and understand specifications for all products
  • Keep supervisors, operators, and other teammates informed of all problems or relative production concerns
  • Build boxes, clean and maintain printers, keep track of tools and equipment, and ensure all needed supplies are available
  • Work closely with team members to be more efficient, troubleshooting problems and helping find new or better solutions
  • Participate in and promote continuous improvement ideas
  • Set up and have the ability to start up a production line from idle to a run state
  • LOTO trained (Lock Out/Tag Out)
  • Knowledge and ability to use appropriate quality inspection tools to ensure quality and reproducibility
  • Able to perform warehouse checks

WORKING CONDITIONS

Long hours are sometimes necessary to meet deadlines. Night shift work is required for some candidates. The working environment will include extended periods of standing and seasonal temperature extremes occur during peak summer months. These environments may include exposure to industrial solvents, above-average noise levels, and hazardous materials, all of which must be mitigated with Personal Protective Equipment.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
  • Manual dexterity is required for operating machinery and computers
  • Manufacturing-related experience preferred
  • Minimum English language competency to adequately perform duties and responsibilities (written & verbal)
  • Familiar with safety programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Above average time management skills
  • Engagement towards facility safety and continuous learning
  • Excellent attendance
  • Experience following protocols and procedures
  • Ability to communicate within a team environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards, whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require bending, lifting materials weighing up to 50lbs twisting, gripping, reaching, and fine manipulation. May require long periods of standing.

EHS Manager
Position Description
Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager provides leadership and guidance for all employees to continuously improve facility safety, health, and environmental metrics to world-class levels by engaging and interacting with all employees.

The EHS Manager is responsible for the development & implementation of programs that comply with federal, state, and local EH&S regulations. The incumbent will manage the complete EH&S programs for the Mount Pleasant, TN facility in accordance with Saint-Gobain standards, to minimize all EH&S risks and reduce potential liabilities. The incumbent will be responsible for regulatory and company environmental compliance activity and facilitating the site Environmental Management System (EMS). This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work closely with the Plant Supervisors, Department Managers, and employees to provide the proper training and guidance for compliance with all governmental regulations and facility policies.

Site Responsibility

  • Provide program leadership, guidance, expertise, and technical support to management and employee-led safety and environmental committees in the identification, measurement, and control of EHS risks.
  • Analyze and understand plant operations, determine their impact on employee safety, health, and the environment, and work with managers, supervisors, and employees to develop and comply with EHS policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, train, counsel, and enforce EHS policies and procedures consistent with Saint-Gobain and CBI group standards.
  • Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position JSA and SOPs to ensure environmental impacts are analyzed.
  • Maintains all plant safety statistics data in the reporting system
  • Compiles and submits agency reporting and maintains safety, health & environmental files and records
  • Drive initiatives to shift the safety culture towards a more preventive and employee-driven approach.

Risk Analysis & Mitigation

  • Performs incident response and management including incident investigations, root cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective action plans, and related documentation and communication.
  • Support the planning and implementation of EHS loss prevention programs and projects necessary to control exposures to losses such as occupational injuries and illnesses, environmental contamination, and property damage at the incumbent’s site.
  • Performs facility and operational EH&S reviews to identify deviations from regulatory or company requirements and collaborates with stakeholders to identify options for corrective action.
  • Assists in risk management property insurance inspections, and manages all required corrections.

Integrated Management Systems & Control

  • Utilize computerized database management systems, investigate, and publish incident data concerning company and departmental loss experience, i.e., types, root causes, and frequency of injuries, illnesses, spills, and releases.
  • Ensure that proper monitoring of workplace exposures to potentially harmful chemicals/materials/conditions is performed by proper sampling protocols. Compile and analyze data and make recommendations for improvements.

Reporting & Liaison

  • Maintains EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permits, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.
  • Interact with agency contacts & lead on-site visits or inspections from EHS regulatory personnel.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health & Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences is required
  • 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated experience in effective implementation of safety programs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to function in a team-oriented atmosphere with little to no supervision
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Possesses strong analytic work methodology and problem-solving skills and demonstrates a systematic approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office, including Excel/Word/PowerPoint and other programs as needed
  • Successful candidate must exhibit model behavior as related to site EHS policies and practices
  • Must be able to influence without authority to accomplish change on the plant floor

Under the supervision of the Production Supervisors, the Extrusion Operator is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient manufacture change-over, and setup of tubing; profile extrusions, and braided tubing, including winding, packaging, and Quality functions.

Daily Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Timely setups
  • Maintaining line speeds while generating minimal scrap
  • Making adjustments to extruder controls, downstream equipment, change screens, dies, pins and screws as required
  • Uses all tools and equipment provided by the company in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Follow ISO Procedures.
  • Inspection and quality of finished product
  • Uses various measuring devices and systems to determine product quality
  • Making all packaging components for finished product.

Must be open to work on 2nd & 3rd shifts based on business / union need.

Must be available for 4:00pm-12:00am; Monday through Friday; AND/OR 12:00AM-8:00AM (Monday through Friday). The first 30 days of training is on 1st shift (8:00am-4pm; Monday through Friday).

Starting pay rate $21.21 an hour with a .50 shift differential.

Sr Automation/MES Engineer
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

We are seeking an Automation/MES Engineer, based in Malvern Pennsylvania in a hybrid work environment. This exciting position will be supporting the digital transformation and sustainability in manufactory for CertainTeed Roofing products in North America. This requires strong technical and communication skills to manage CertainTeed local factory operational technology (OT) and SCADA/MES and automation manufacturing infrastructure. This position will work closely with the IT Digital in Manufacturing teams and the factories to develop standards, develop and support projects, maintain local systems and provide level 1-2 support, ensuring quality of the delivery, availability and performance of OT, SCADA/MES and automation systems.

PAC/PLC Control Systems

  • Develop/adopt future thinking automation and controls standards
  • Utilize the control standards for development and implementation of the automation and controls obsolesce program roadmap.
  • Development and implementation of a systematic back up/recovery and change control program for PAC/PLC, HMI and associated peripheral equipment programs.
  • Support the factory Automation and Controls Engineers (s) in the below areas:
  • Troubleshooting production PAC/PLC’s, their control systems and associated hardware
  • Troubleshooting production VFD and servo drive systems, HMI systems and code
  • PAC/PLC, HMI and drive system programming
  • Ability to Interpret electrical schematics, industrial network schematics and complex safety circuit networks.

System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following; Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Inductive Automation Ignition and associated Historians
  • OPC Servers, MS SQL Server to support guided configuration and enhancements
  • Advanced troubleshooting of messaging from production floor equipment to-and-from the SCADA/MES systems.
  • Work with factories to perform security updates and maintain backup and recovery plans for SCADA/MES.

Operational Technology [OT]

  • Intermediate troubleshooting of Microsoft Server platforms using remote desktop protocol
  • Intermediate troubleshooting of network switches, Internet Protocol routing and machine messaging protocols. TCP/IP, Modbus, DH+, RS ControlNet etc.
  • Working knowledge of the DMZ Firewall architecture
  • Development and implementation of standards to maintain Factory Systems access control with Active Directory Groups and accounts used to interface with the SCADA/MES systems

Industrial Performance Improvement

  • Ensure accurate documentation of all local MES&A platforms. Technical Architecture Manuals and Technical Operations Manuals.
  • Support the analyses of performance data to improve electrical and automation equipment unplanned downtime.
  • Analyze performance data to implement automation improvements which provides positive contribution to all key plant indicators (safety, quality, cost, and service).
  • Participate in capital and process improvement teams budgeting

Competency Building

  • Work closely with factory Automation, Engineering and Operations teams to coach and assess competencies in regards to area of focus.
  • Act as positive change agent and Liaison between market and factory teams to ensure effective and clear communication in regards to area of responsibility.
  • Assist in tracking and improving competency-building plans for key MES and Automation roles.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • 7-10 Years’ industrial MES and automation experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering Technology
  • Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Ignition or similar MES applications.
  • PAC/PLC platforms, with specific, advanced capabilities with Rockwell product suites.
  • SAP data flows for Manufacturing and Warehouse systems and their integration to MES.
  • Industrial Networks
  • Database, specifically SQL.
  • Must be proficient in the use of common software packages including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Visio, Project, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD

Controls Technician
Position Description
Job Summary

The primary function of the Electronic Technician (ET) is to bridge the gap between the plants Industrial Electricians and Engineering staff by providing electrical/electronic troubleshooting support and the preventative/predictive maintenance of electrical & electronic equipment at the state-of-the-art Glass Mat facility in Oxford, NC.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   

  • Responsible for the troubleshooting of PLC’s related to safety, automation, and control systems.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and calibration of thermocouples, RTD’s, level sensing devices, thickness detectors, consistency transmitters, load cells and other electrical/electronic devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives)
  • Provide support to the Engineering department on new installations of electronic control equipment.
  • Assist the electrical department as needed in troubleshooting of plant equipment, machinery, utilities, and safety systems.
  • Assist management in root-cause analysis on losses related to electrical/electronic failures.
  • To closely work with the other Maintenance department crafts to support initiatives that improves equipment reliability.
  • Manage electrical parts inventory
  • Participation and completion of required Environmental, Health and Safety training. Responsible for performing SMAT observations and other audit programs, cleaning, painting, and maintaining 5S system.
  • Ensure adherence to waste management and recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Participate in the development, understanding and review of related Job Safety Analysis and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Communicates and logs daily activities to oncoming shift to verify effective handoff of information.
  • Participate in Maintenance driven projects (i.e., small-scale electrical, MOC)
  • Perform various administrative tasks which include, but are not limited to, email correspondence, purchase requisitions, completion of expenses reports, and invoice verification
  • Further develop skill set of crew electricians.
  • Perform Training Activities (i.e., LOTO training, electrical tech training, and PLC training
  • Travelling may be required (up to 30%) for learning purposes. After the site is complete, significantly less travel is required.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum of 2- year degree in Electrical/Electronic discipline and/or prior experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of AC/DC drive systems, Power distribution systems including switch gear components, Servo Motor Equipment and programming, Ethernet Networking systems, HMI and PLC Programming / Troubleshooting, Electrical & Electronic systems integration, Electro-Mechanical design and troubleshooting
  • Keen knowledge of Lockout Tagout policies and procedures
  • Score the minimum score established by the company on a role specific assessment
  • Complete Annual CPR recertification
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems operations.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Summary

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for all production activities. The incumbent will manage and direct the activities of the production line personnel to safely produce quality products. Will monitor and direct the production activities and production line personnel. The incumbent is held accountable to ensure production activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.

NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION:

Develops the knowledge, skills, and abilities of their direct reports by acting as a coach and mentor. Placing priority on taking care of their employees and ensuring that daily human resource issues are timely and consistent (payroll, recognition, accountability, etc.). Train and develop production crews to safely produce quality-roofing products efficiently, monitoring production processes. Consistently and equitably, enforce plant rules, holding crew members accountable for all facets of their jobs, including housekeeping standards. Maintain good labor relations by equitable administration of work rules, consistency of actions, and open communication with all employees. By personal actions and example, assure that all employees are treated with dignity and respect. Must be fully engaged in the continuous improvement of the process and actively developing their direct reports to the same level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and direct all Production activities for assigned lines to ensure that products are produced to meet or exceed all established process specifications and quality requirements. Confer with the Production Manager and establish work schedules, assignments, and production requirements for operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Observe work and monitor to ensure production or processing standard performance. Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
    Interprets production specifications and determines the acceptability of production that is in process.
  • Responsible for the support of activities such as Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of products and manufacturing all products within specification.
  • Maintain communication with Operations Management to ensure production requirements are understood.
  • Provides input and collaboration as part of the plant operations second-level management team.
  • Must advise and counsel Production team members effectively, utilize progressive discipline, and take corrective actions when warranted for crew members.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety procedures, establishes, and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment. Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment, and machine operations, which may lead to human injury and or property damage.
  • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Participation in development and review of JSA/SOP’s.
  • Assist with direct reports in reviewing accident investigations to reach the root cause and determine corrective actions.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust and high noise areas are present inside plant areas.

  • BS Degree preferred and/or 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience, as well as exposure in a unionized manufacturing environment.

  • Must demonstrate core competencies of engagement in safe work behaviors, effective communications, listening, and organizational skills.

  • Support adherence to EH&S Systems by hourly workforce, lead by example.
  • Will participate in the development, understanding and review of all position JSA’s.
