The Sr. HR Manager will provide strategic counseling to the Leadership Team on all aspects of Human Resources. Will implement, manage and oversee of a wide range of Human Resources programs across all shifts and 300 + employee manufacturing facility; including but not limited to employee relations, benefits, recruiting, Human Resource Information Systems, compensation, training, employee retention and compliance with all applicable laws.

The Sr. HR Manager will assist the Plant Manager and the Corporate Human Resource team with the creation and implementation of strategic HR programs for the plant. This position reports to the Plant Manager and will play an integral role on the Site Management Team in helping to achieve business goals and objectives. Will work closely with the Central HR Team to ensure that Saint-Gobain principals and policies are maintained through the site.

Key Accountabilities:

Providing strategic counseling to the Plant Leadership Team on various Human Resources topics to support moving the business forward. The person in this position is responsible for the success of employee relations, recruitment and staffing at all levels, workforce planning, benefit administration, hourly and non-exempt pay systems, Human Resource Information Systems, communications, training and development, discipline, diversity programs and community relations with the assistance from the HR Team. Responsible for the wage, salary, benefits and for overseeing the annual processes for exempt, non-exempt and hourly employees for merit and bonus.

Lead the development, dissemination and interpretation of personnel policies and their implementation at the site, providing consultation to the management team on leadership initiatives. Ensure that policies are applied in a consistent manner to ensure reduction of risk for the company and the employee. Provide independent insight into the impact of such initiatives on personnel.

Oversee and work with the leadership/management team to develop and deliver required training and employee growth programs for new and existing employees.

Communicate and coordinate the delivery of benefits to site personnel.

Oversee the employment process including recruitment, selection, placement, development, compensation, corrective action, discipline and termination, including the use of temporary employees. Coordinate the Employee Performance Appraisal, Merit Increase and Annual Incentive Programs.

Lead and develop current HR Team in order to meet the growing and changing needs of the Portage facility with recruitment, selection, placement, development, compensation, corrective action, discipline and termination.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, Required.

MBA (or equivalent), Preferred.

Work Experience

10+ years experience in Human Resources within Manufacturing; Required.

4+ years experience within HR Management/Leadership capacity; Required.

Travel for training and business meetings, up to 10%; Required.

What's the job?

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager designs and implements solutions and manages projects that support the plant in attaining safety, quality and production goals. 

The Maintenance Manager leads the repairs, installations, and upkeep of all process equipment.  Their main duties include planning and leading repairs, root cause analyses and designing maintenance procedures, tracking budgets and expenses and performing inspections on different equipment to find problems and make repairs.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading a team of highly skilled engineers, mechanics and electricians to achieve world-class performance by use of personnel, material, and technical resources to optimize equipment and facility usage.  Will lead or participate on project teams focused on continuous improvement in a number of areas including production efficiency and quality.

Maintenance Leadership

  • Lead repairs and reduction of downtime to improve production output and product quality.
  • Create and implement a reliability strategy within the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure equipment and personnel adhere to all Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Develop multi-year plans to improve mechanical reliability to world class levels.
  • Is the plant subject matter expert in regards to preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Partners with other Reliability Team members in order to develop plant preventative maintenance plans which multiple departments can help perform in order to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Works with Plant Maintenance and Engineering Departments to develop predictive maintenance strategies to improve uptime with plant equipment and build in redundancy in critical areas.

Supervision of Maintenance Personnel

  • Leads the Maintenance Team in developing self-planning and execution process of daily, weekly and monthly PMs and work orders; ensuring proper prioritization; human resource and physical asset utilization.
  • Management of maintenance team to provide optimal support to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Provides 24/7 on call support utilizing maintenance supervisors, engineers, and maintenance technicians.
  • Understands cost and downtime trends and identifies projects to take corrective action.
  • Ensures the success of the Maintenance Team 5S program and Spare Parts Program.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $102,000 to $158,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $114,260 to $178,540.

Senior Research Engineer I - Tape Solutions

Saint-Gobain Tape Solutions is searching for a Senior Research Engineer I to join our Adhesives Systems R&D Team at Saint-Gobain’s North American R&D center in Northborough, MA. The SRE I will be expected to design and execute experiments, analyze results, and present the findings in both written and oral formats in the areas of pressure-sensitive adhesive formulation, polymeric coating, adhesive characterization, and industrial scale-up. While not expected to be an expert in all these areas, the new hire must be able to quickly research and understand new technical areas and be able to rapidly analyze and interpret experimental results. The candidate should enjoy learning, problem solving, and applying scientific fundamentals to the design of new products and processes.

Under the direction of the R&D Group Leader, and in collaboration with Tape Solutions marketing and our customers, the Senior Research Engineer I will design and formulate new high-performance adhesives, produce lab and pilot scale films and tapes, coordinate plant trials, and facilitate launching new products. The new hire will also be expected to support projects led by others, demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility, and seek out others to enhance and streamline product development and decision making.

Essential Functions

  • Carry major projects through successful completion with assistance from supervisor (guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected).
    • Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of products, processes, techniques, and fundamental knowledge.
    • Projects are assigned by supervisor and are several months to years in duration.
  • Fabricate product prototypes and characterize samples using various analytical techniques based on experiments designed by other engineers in the group in support of their projects.
  • Deliver high quality results rapidly and in the format requested by the project manager.
  • Manage and document projects effectively under minimal supervision by the direct manager; data and results to be presented in oral and written form.
    • Includes the generation of project timelines/plans, technical memos, research reports, and presentations to internal customers, project teams, and/or management.
  • Marketing and manufacturing supports.
    • May include pilot and production trials, and travel to manufacturing sites or customers for support.
    • Proactively seeks out all information needed to conduct the trials successfully and delivers the results in the form requested by the customer.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years of experience or entry level PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials or other related disciplines.

  • Hands on experience within a chemistry lab setting and ability to work with chemicals in a fume hood is required.
  • Knowledge of chemical and/or mechanical characterization polymeric materials required.
  • Attention to detail when preparing samples for testing and conducting sample characterization required.
  • Experience with polymer coating formulation and/or pressure sensitive adhesives preferred.
  • Experience with solvent or UV cured coating processes and/or formulations preferred.
  • Experience with new product or process development preferred.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll processes and web handling preferred.

The position focuses on overall process and project management, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, engineering, and strategic automation. Capital planning and project management are key required competencies.

Responsible for strategic and tactical planning to control the risks associated with process development and industrialization. In addition, a commitment to statistical analysis tools is critical for the successful support of the appropriate WCM (Operational Excellence) pillars.

This role will be required to have sound technical and leadership abilities, along with structured and methodical project management skills, i.e., project charter development, statement of work, project planning and scheduling, actions and deliverables, milestones, risk assessment and proactive corrective actions, good management and controls, excellent documentation, and thorough supportive project handoff. This role is accountable for overall engineering project management with advanced technical support in the areas of safety and productivity.

Accountable for install, setup, troubleshoot and validate engineering projects group wide. Excellent understanding of engineering fundamental principles and their applications and be a project management professional or have equivalent experience. A strong IQ and EQ balance, i.e., strong mechanical, chemical, and electrical knowledge and a strong collaborative and engaging leadership style. Knowledge of mechanical assemblies, drive components and electrical equipment ability to perform electrical and mechanical testing and troubleshooting utilizing schematics and experience, i.e., mechanical drives, industrial process control systems and production equipment, PLC’s, HMI’s, hydraulic motors, pumps and valves, material handling equipment, extrusion equipment, bulk chemical systems, batch mixing, facility equipment and packaging equipment. The role requires your commitment, support, and complete ownership through the end of each project where you do not segue the project to the group once it is completely validated and then closed out.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $115,260 to $178,540. Key Accountabilities:

Hourly Rate: $17.00 hour + $0.50 shift differential
