The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for managing technical activities including engineering, product development, Tech Transfer, application engineering, and support to customers and other departments. This role will be highly collaborative and work to support assigned Focus Factories/departments/plants and the Project Management central team. This position is to focus on C-FLEX twin and single screw extrusion, compounding & molding.

Key Accountabilities: 

• Production support

• Troubleshooting production (C-FLEX twin and single screw extrusion, Compounding & molding a PLUS) to alleviate manufacturing process losses

• Outsources the repair and maintenance of tooling, and ensures tools are serviceable at all times

• Control of contractors

• Support projects and change orders being conducted by colleagues

• Conduct Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to determine root cause and remediation of repetitive defects/issues

• Assess and authorize process deviations

• Advise on root causes of non-conforming materials Project Management

• Initiate and manage change order requests which include but not limited to elements of environment, health and safety, purchasing, quality, and engineering

• Plans, develops, and executes projects to reduce waste through improved manufacturing and process efficiency, using WCM methodologies

• Initiate formal requests for capital equipment using substantiated justifications

• Implement new processes and equipment by using IQ/OQ/PQ validations

• Updating validations as needed due to process changes

• Troubleshooting

• Drafting and editing SOPs

• Training World Class Manufacturing (WCM)

• Pillar activities

• Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management

• Performance Control System (PCS) management

• Lead and coach multifunctional Kaizen teams

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

REQUIRED

Bachelors of Science in Engineering or related technical field

Manufacturing Engineering (3+ years)

Plastics experience with knowledge of extrusion, injection molding & compounding

Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

PREFERRED

Knowledge of ISO, GMP, and FDA requirements

Continuous Improvement (WCM, Kaizen) green belt training or higher

Assembly Operators* will operate and maintain various types of manufacturing equipment/hand tools and materials while efficiently processing glass as part of an assembly line operating at fast pace and adding value on each station as glass travels through it and finally packaging all while complying with all safety, quality, and 5S/housekeeping standards.

Schedule: 1st Shift (M-F 6:00am to 2:30pm)

Essential Functions

  • Inspect automotive glass as instructed to ensure conformance to quality requirements.
  • Handling and applying chemicals directly to the glass in specific areas
  • Allocating components on glass surface according to specifications, specifically: Canopy, Backlite and Windshield Three sided molding; Backlite lower molding.
    - Training others on process assembly method
    - Try new process and collaborate in productivity and industrialization improvements, which means try new tools and different process flow.
  • Adhering according to specifications
  • Packaging finished goods in large pallets, wooden boxes, cardboard boxes or other standard packaging
  • Utilizing all established PPE at all times
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; informing supervisors and team leads when machinery needs repairs; and adhering to all safety procedures and regulations.

Hourly Rate: $17.00 hourly

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • 6 months + of relative manufacturing or assembly experience (preferred)
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance (Required)
  • Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally. (Required)

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the pay rate for this position which is $17.00 per hour. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

The Quality Engineer I (QE) will serve as the immediate delegate to the Quality Systems & Controls Manager & Regional Quality Manager.

The QE I will ensure that the quality standards of the company remain maintained within the CBI Waterproofing procedures, policies, purchased components and manufactured products.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Participate in and may lead complaint investigations, CAPA investigations, lead supplier audits, drive supplier quality, conduct internal audits and drive continuous improvement projects throughout the plant.
  • Supporting any facility expansions, software validations, equipment qualifications and/or process validations required to support existing/new processes.
  • Participate in and host third-party audits and conduct training when needed. Implementation, maintenance, and control of systems & practices, which monitor, assess, and approve the quality of materials and products at all stages of production.
  • Implementing, maintaining, and facilitating continuous quality improvement objectives. Ensure the plant remains in full compliance with regulatory requirements and ISO requirements as they pertain to the plant, customer specifications, and corporate quality policies.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

What do you bring?

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Chemical preferred
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment in roles that include Statistical Analysis, Process Improvement, Regulatory Compliance, Testing/Inspection, Project Management, & Quality Control/Assurance
  • Experienced with Statistical Analysis software, Quality Management Systems (QMS), CAD, Six Sigma tools, & Root Cause Analysis tools

  • Project Management with emphasis on quality-related projects having direct/indirect impact on customer

The Role

Responsible for consistently meeting all corporate and plant objectives for safety, quality, productivity, cost and housekeeping. Also responsible for empowering production associates to make sound and timely decisions as well as resolve problems during production.

NIGHT SHIFT WORK SCHEDULE:  This position is scheduled to be on the night shift working 12-hours per shift, 4 days on and 4 days off with the ability to work weekends.

 

Requirements

  • High school or GED, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a 24/7 manufacturing union plant.
  • Must have interpersonal, training, and coaching skills necessary to foster cooperation/teamwork.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Well-developed leadership and coaching capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good troubleshooting, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $76,500 to $123,400 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $84,150 to $135,740

Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

This position is a hybrid role working from home and coming into the corporate HQ located in Malvern, PA. The position requires travel up to 50% as the role permits to any of our Roofing plants within the domestic U.S.

The incumbent will help in the development and safe implementation of equipment and installation (packages) within capital projects for the CertainTeed Roofing manufacturing plants including process design development, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

The Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer reports to the Project Engineering Manager within the Project Management Office (PMO) and works for the Project Managers within the PMO in the assigned project, meeting or exceeding their expectations in terms of Scope, Cost, Schedule, and communication.

  • Helps with assigned capital packages related to design, capital requests, procurement (including, scope of works documents, contracts and change orders), budget, schedule, installation and commissioning.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Project Engineer’s regarding the design phase of the projects.
  • Support Project Managers on assigned projects led by Roofing TIP or led by the Roofing plant teams to deliver installations safely, on time and on budget.
  • In collaboration with the Technical Office, support the development of designs and processes to deliver the best performance and lowest cost giving due regard to safety, operations, maintenance, and legal compliance.
  • Provide business case and budget estimates to cost justify capital projects.
  • Lead continuous improvement of process plant design in collaboration with the Operational Excellence Team and the Technical Office.
  • Assist in the startup and commissioning of equipment and other mechanical systems onsite.
  • Ensure the efficient transfer of projects to the Operations team, including all documentation, training support, spare parts packages, preventive maintenance manuals, troubleshooting guides, etc.
  • Create required schedules while maintaining and communicating project status to meet company goals.
  • Follows the Project Execution Manual Check Lists (Stage gate process) applying the standard tools at each step of the project (risk register, change register, etc).
  • Maintain fluid communication and collaboration with other members of Roofing TIP: Project Management Office PMO, Technical Office, OPEX team, Loss Prevention Team, and other corporate teams such as Operations, Quality, R&D or Safety during project’s life cycle.

Position Description
Job Summary

We are seeking an Automation/MES Engineer, based in Malvern Pennsylvania in a hybrid work environment. This exciting position will be supporting the digital transformation and sustainability in manufactory for CertainTeed Roofing products in North America. This requires strong technical and communication skills to manage CertainTeed local factory operational technology (OT) and SCADA/MES and automation manufacturing infrastructure. This position will work closely with the IT Digital in Manufacturing teams and the factories to develop standards, develop and support projects, maintain local systems and provide level 1-2 support, ensuring quality of the delivery, availability and performance of OT, SCADA/MES and automation systems.

PAC/PLC Control Systems

  • Develop/adopt future thinking automation and controls standards
  • Utilize the control standards for development and implementation of the automation and controls obsolesce program roadmap.
  • Development and implementation of a systematic back up/recovery and change control program for PAC/PLC, HMI and associated peripheral equipment programs.
  • Support the factory Automation and Controls Engineers (s) in the below areas:
  • Troubleshooting production PAC/PLC’s, their control systems and associated hardware
  • Troubleshooting production VFD and servo drive systems, HMI systems and code
  • PAC/PLC, HMI and drive system programming
  • Ability to Interpret electrical schematics, industrial network schematics and complex safety circuit networks.

System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following; Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Inductive Automation Ignition and associated Historians
  • OPC Servers, MS SQL Server to support guided configuration and enhancements
  • Advanced troubleshooting of messaging from production floor equipment to-and-from the SCADA/MES systems.

Operational Technology [OT]

  • Intermediate troubleshooting of Microsoft Server platforms using remote desktop protocol

  • Working knowledge of the DMZ Firewall architecture

Industrial Performance Improvement

  • Ensure accurate documentation of all local MES&A platforms. Technical Architecture Manuals and Technical Operations Manuals.
  • Support the analyses of performance data to improve electrical and automation equipment unplanned downtime.
  • Analyze performance data to implement automation improvements which provides positive contribution to all key plant indicators (safety, quality, cost, and service).
  • Participate in capital and process improvement teams budgeting

Competency Building

  • Work closely with factory Automation, Engineering and Operations teams to coach and assess competencies in regards to area of focus.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • 5-7 Years’ industrial MES and automation experience
