Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking for a highly motivated, talented and energetic researcher to join our Grinding and Finishing Technology (GFT) team. Reporting to the GFT R&D manager, the Senior Research Engineer I will be responsible for leading test method and grinding process development, synthesizing data with analytical and statistical tools, and guiding internal and external grinding tests.
The candidate will perform the following essential functions to drive product and process innovations through deep understanding of customer applications, business objectives and technical approaches.

  • Leading test method development projects to simulate customer applications on internal test platforms. Supporting new product development through internal & field tests, data analysis and fundamental understanding of abrasive product performance, material removal mechanism and failure mode.
  • Working with R&D and operation teams to ensure robust and efficient internal testing of customers grinding applications (equipment, tooling, methodology, SOP's, data management, etc.).
  • Developing and maintaining expertise in grinding and finishing technology along with related research in academia and industry. Writing clear, concise technical reports and making oral presentations of studies, results and recommendations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to propose new applications and other growth opportunities for the Abrasives business. Writing proposals, leading related projects, or participating as the applications expert in such projects.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 3 years experience, or entry level PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Industrial Engineering or other related discipline.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)
  • Able to collaborate and communicate effectively across disciplines and organizational levels to align on goals, share knowledge and drive results
  • Knowledge and practical experience in process development, measurement tools, machining and grinding is strongly preferred.
  • Industrial or process R&D experience is a plus.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $92,000 to $142,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $103,040 to $159,040. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Team members perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and facility equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role applies mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic/PLC skills to troubleshoot, repair, fabricate, install, and maintain equipment; supports production through preventative maintenance and timely repairs; works collaboratively with maintenance team members, operations, engineers, and contractors; and performs all work in compliance with union contract requirements, safety policies, environmental regulations, and plant procedures.

Essential Duties:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic (PLC) systems
  • Perform inspections, lubrication, and scheduled preventative maintenance activities
  • Dismantle, rebuild, repair, or fabricate components such as pumps, motors, drives, compressors, and piping
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks safely and efficiently
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems including motors, controls, drives, and power distribution

Storeroom MRO Buyer

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Reporting directly to the Site Buyer, the Storeroom MRO Buyer is responsible for leading and directing the operations in the Storeroom and Storeroom Satellite Areas. Being fully dedicated to the direct location. Ensures that the inventory materials and parts are kept at required quantities and replenished to their set level.
 
Managing Storeroom

  • Lead and direct the Storeroom Clerk; drive problem solving and process improvements, including close monitoring of parts availability for work order kitting
  • Establish and manage vendor relationships; lead sourcing, supplier consolidation/switching, and competitive bidding for MRO, CAPEX spares, and maintenance supplies/services
  • Plan and manage purchases (including capital spares and Capex+ appropriation requests); facilitate initial provisioning of new inventory parts in Sparefinders database
  • Support Maintenance with locating parts and supplies; communicate parts availability, delivery schedules, and supply issues to stakeholders
  • Ensure storeroom procedure adherence and inventory accuracy; follow internal control policies and maximize compliance to Corporate Preferred Supplier Programs and utilization of Agora (Ariba) e-commerce platform for suitable storeroom purchases

Supply Planning and MRP:

  • Review MRP-driven demand; establish min/max levels and process the Storeroom MRP report (weekly or otherwise determined with manager) to evaluate parts/materials to order and review for accuracy

Purchase Orders:

  • Process storeroom MRO purchase orders with required documentation
  • Review vendor confirmations for variances; update POs as necessary (including pushback on unreasonable price increases), resend updated PO copies, and monitor open PO reports for shipments, delivery dates, order accuracy, and potential missed receipts

Expediting & Shipping:

  • Purchase parts within necessary lead time; expedite parts/materials for emergencies or urgent needs
  • Assess delivery bundling opportunities to minimize inbound freight charges; coordinate with Shipping Manager for outgoing rebuild of MRO parts

Receiving:

  • Review receiving documents for proper check-off/signature/date and reconcile to system transactions to ensure accuracy; contact vendor to resolve variances or delivery issues
  • Process receiving transactions for all services and serve as backup for receiving of raw materials

Invoice:

  • Resolve invoice exceptions in the Medius system and address root causes of invoice discrepancies, including support for Goods Received Invoice Received (GRIR) issues

Cycle Counts & Inventory

  • Manage, organize and audit monthly cycle counts; perform approved and required inventory adjustments
  • Identify critical and non-critical inventory; facilitate initial provisioning for stock items

Parts Management and Storeroom Organization:

  • Evaluate and resolve ERP data accuracy/gaps; manage setup of new parts in ERP and satellite systems; evaluate and identify obsolete parts and potential alternatives
  • Maintain an organized storeroom (locations/relocations/housekeeping) and lead/execute 5S activities to ensure storeroom areas are maintained

Position Overview:

Compensation: $22.00/hour 

Essential Functions:

  • Operate the blending/grinding equipment in a safe and efficient manner to supply quality raw and recycled materials to production, troubleshoot material weight variances and blender/grinder process issues. 
  • Unloading rail cars/may unload load trucks of Raw Materials including Supersacks, Gaylords and Bulk Containers – verify Certificate of Analysis (COA) before offload for accuracy, process all delivery paperwork

  • Maintain housekeeping on floors of blending/grinding operation

  • Maintain and verify all blending production run formulas, trial formulas and approved deviations
  • Regular Walkthroughs of the department to ensure efficiency and environmental integrity

  • Oversee contractor training, permitting, and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations, including air and greenhouse gas permitting, reporting, and documentation.
  • Lead the ongoing development and execution of the site’s safety program, and risk management and business continuity programs.
  • Manage training programs covering WHMIS, safe job procedures, hazard identification, accident investigation, and safety responsibilities.
  • Advise on equipment and facility design to ensure safety compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation; prepare and submit required reports.
  • Lead investigations of serious incidents and support legal or insurance-related processes.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct SMART and TASK audits and facilitate related training.
  • Responsible for air, water, and SDS compliance and reporting.
  • Provide support across all EHS functions for the site and region as needed. They will work closely with Plant Manager, managers/supervisors, and employees.

  • Post Secondary education in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

Program Summary

Our 18-month program provides participants a full-time sales development role, where participants will increase their sales skills and their exposure to CertainTeed. Participants are provided with time in the field, hands-on learning, and full access to EPS leaders for networking opportunities designed to accelerate career development. These trainings and travel opportunities are a requirement for program completion, and full participation should be given, except for extenuating circumstances. The EOS Associate Territory Manager will support CertainTeed businesses in building strong relationships and portfolios of loyal customers through the development of new and existing customers. They will proactively promote CertainTeed products, systems, and programs. They will gain a knowledge base of all CertainTeed products, systems, programs, and promotions used to sell and promote the brand to potential customers throughout the U.S. Representatives will also be expected to collaborate with the managers and sales teams to ensure customer requirements are constantly being met.

Development Program Completion

Upon the successful completion of the program, the EOS Associate Territory Manager will work with HR, the Sales Training Manager, and Sales Leadership to explore available opportunities within one of our 12 sales regions in the U.S. for a Territory Manager role or other roles within Saint-Gobain. The individual will:

Prepare evaluations and justifications for procurement of new equipment through the capital appropriation (CAPEX) process;
Lead capital and local projects from concept through completion, including scope definition, budget development, scheduling, and risk assessment;
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop technical specifications and project requirements;
Coordinate suppliers and contractors to ensure project deliverables meet scope, cost, timeline, safety, and quality expectations;
Lead installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of new equipment, systems, and processes;
Ensure formal project closeout, documentation completion, and handover to Operations and Maintenance.

This engineer will:

Provide day-to-day engineering support to production through troubleshooting and structured problem solving;
Identify process bottlenecks and develop effective solutions to improve yield, quality, safety, and cost;
Support process validation, revalidation, and change control activities in collaboration with Quality;
Collect, analyze, and interpret critical process and equipment data in support of projects, trials, investigations, and validation activities;
Support new product introductions, technology transfers, and pilot production runs;
Develop and maintain process flow diagrams, equipment documentation, and SOPs to support manufacturing release.
