The Manufacturing Technician I will perform entry level manufacturing duties in the production, assembly, and inspection of custom products used in cell and gene therapy and clinical trials. Saint-Gobain trains and cross-trains technicians on all steps in the process, so that technicians can learn new skills and develop their careers. Technicians work in ISO 7 and ISO 8 cleanrooms to meet our customer's high quality and manufacturing standards.

Experience:

  • 1 year of manufacturing experience in a cleanroom/regulated environment; Required
  • Adherence to all gowning requirements when in the cleanroom, including, being prohibited from wearing perfume/cologne, cosmetics, makeup, and jewelry; Required
  • Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures; Required
  • Ability to perform basic math and arithmetic to measure and cut components to meet all specifications; Required
  • Basic computer skills; Required
  • Ability to work 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, M - F; Required
    • There is also a 2nd shift 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, M - F
  • Experience with GDP/GMP; Preferred

Industrial Maintenance Electrician

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

This position is essential for safely analyzing and correcting electrical machinery malfunctions. You will be responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of all machine tools, shop tools, and the upkeep of production and building equipment. Your role also includes ensuring the proper maintenance of stock items necessary for performing these tasks. You’ll be required to complete a daily maintenance work log and submit purchase order requests for repair parts, ensuring the smooth operation of our facility.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

GENERAL

• Electrical Machine repair experience preferred along with a Technical Degree in Electronics or similar education.

• This role involves working across various areas of our manufacturing facility. The candidate must be able to work independently, efficiently, and safely. A strong ability to learn quickly and perform all required duties is essential.

• The position requires demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and a willingness to assist colleagues in a collaborative work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with PLC programming and programming of AC/DC motor drives. Must be fully capable of wiring, installing conduit, disconnects, and other related electrical components for voltages up to 600 volts. Proficient in operating electrical switch gears and vacuum switches for voltages up to 600 volts.

• Willingness to work overtime and occasionally on short notice.

• Ability to read, interpret, and update blueprints, schematics, machine manuals, and drawings. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Requires troubleshooting expertise, along with mechanical and electrical/electronic aptitude. Knowledge of power transmission, bearings, seals, and electrical components is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and effective communication are also required.

 

PHYSICAL

• Must be physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, and handle or move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.

• Visual acuity must be corrected to effectively perform job functions, with the ability to distinguish colors as required for the role.

• Must be able to move freely throughout all areas of the plant floor, receiving areas, and the outside perimeter of the facility.

• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely perform job functions.

• Capable of standing and/or sitting continuously for a full shift with a meal break.

• Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to a height of approximately 8 feet and perform tasks at that height.

  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance schedules and procedures in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation.
  • Communicate repair timelines exceeding 24 hours to scheduling and production teams.
  • Systematically record equipment downtime and completed repairs.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage contracts for maintenance supplies, parts, and services, including annual inspections of material handling equipment.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the transfer and installation of machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions, ensuring full compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide daily updates on equipment requiring preventive maintenance, repairs, or part replacements.
  • Create and maintain reporting tools and documentation.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to maintenance methods, systems, safety, productivity, and service quality.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5 + years of experience, preferred in a steel processing or steel-making plant environment.
  • Hydraulic systems and heavy equipment experience is essential.
  • Red Seal Certificate (asset).
  • Electronic/Instrumentation maintenance experience (asset).
  • Welding skills operating MIG and TIG welders (asset).
  • Forklift & overhead crane repair knowledge (asset).

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

THE ROLE

The Multi-site Plant Manager will lead all aspects of continuous improvement at Saint-Gobain Life Sciences' manufacturing locations in Beaverton and Williamsburg, MI. Both are multi-product operations that services multiple business units within Life Sciences.

Will manage the manufacturing facilities to achieve operations goals and objectives regarding plant safety, profitability, capital investment, cost reduction programs, operations planning, and maintaining employee engagement and a positive employee relations culture.

The Plant Manager holds the leading responsibility for the plant facilities and its operations. Managers of the Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Operational Excellence (WCM), Production and HSE functions report directly to the Plant Manager. Plus indirect leadership/advisement of Customer Service and Applications Engineering provided in support of these locations.

Key Accountabilities:

Planning and Operations: Manage, direct and coordinate all operations directly related to production and shipment of all products produced by the facilities: Materials Management, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Systems, Facilities Engineering/Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping and Receiving, Process Engineering, Purchasing. Manage, direct and coordinate Plant staff (Human Resources and Finance) functions. Prepare operational plans and budgets, and report to appropriate Management on actual performance vs. those plans.

Personnel Development: Design and administer effective Human Resources programs to equip employees to achieve business goals and to foster career development and organizational succession plans. Establish a succession plan within the facilities for key positions for plant operations.

Technology Leadership: Identify inefficiencies in plant operations and drive systematic cost improvement and state-of-the-art processing through WCM program. Prepare and submit CAPEX projects to support the efficiency improvements.

Safety and Communications: Ensure that the facilities are operating safely and in full environmental compliance. Serve as principal facility communications liaison with other FLS, Company, and external contacts.

Is this job for you?

Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree; Required - within Materials, Manufacturing, Chemical Or Mechanical Engineering; Preferred.

Master's Degree - within Business or Technical Related Field; Preferred.

7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, within operations, management and people development; Required. Medical device, biopharma, or life sciences experience preferred.

Experience with managing remotely / across multiple sites; Required.

A proven ability to foster and establish effective working relationships with management team, employees, and key corporate contacts will be critical to facilitating changes necessary to support overall process improvements; Required.

High comprehension of P&L, cost accounting, cash flow, capital management, budgeting, and other financial concepts routinely used in planning and measuring plant performance; Required.

Knowledge of materials and inventory control practices, production scheduling, and engineering in a manufacturing environment; Required.

Safety oriented management style developed in a manufacturing environment; Required.

Excellent communication and proven team building skills. The incumbent must possess strong leadership skills and be a hand-on leader to continually build effective relationships, drive accountability, challenge assumptions and provide support and resources for improvements in all aspects of the manufacturing process; Required.

Up to 20% travel to attend trainings and business meetings.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Perform equipment-operating functions including start-up, set-up, production run, shutdown, and housekeeping functions as a crew.
  • Perform computer operations, obtain order information, order changes, etc. as required.
  • Perform accurate reporting functions.
  • Maintain continuous operations by performing minor maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Maintain close attention to detail with the goal of producing a quality product with a minimum waste.
  • Perform Back to Basics inspection.
  • Read, interpret, and perform production functions according to work orders and specifications presented on computer screen and/or in hard copy. Ensure that adequate supplies and materials are available as required.
  • Interact effectively within a team-oriented work group and with others to attain or surpass quality, production, safety, and waste reduction goals.
  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines and perform required safety checks. Performs operations in a manner that ensures a safe working environment for all members of the crew.
  • Analyze statistical process control charts and take appropriate action as required.

What’s the job?

Under the supervision of the Production Shift Leader, the position is accountable for Safety, Quality, Housekeeping and packing finished siding and accessory products at the Jackson Plant.

The Production employee is responsible for producing a quality product for our customers that supports our slogan of quality made “Certain” satisfaction guaran “Teed”. Adherence to all company safety policies and precautions while performing productions tasks and at all times when on the premises.

Day Shift: 6am - 6pm

Night Shift: 6pm - 6am (Hiring only at this time)

Shift Schedule over a 2 week period - 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on. Work 15 days per month, work every other weekend (fri, sat, sun) but have off (fri, sat., sun) the next week

Pay: $17-$18 per hour

Job Functions:

  • Pack vinyl siding panels after cut off from extrusion process, follow nesting pattern and quality requirements.
  • Ensure the safety, quality, housekeeping, for the assigned areas as directed by the Production Shift Leader
  • Assist operator with line set-up, including stringing the line
  • Cut packing straps to length for boxes
  • Assemble and glue boxes
  • Visually inspect each siding panel for color or other visual defects
  • Inform operator or Area Lead of any visual defects or problems before scrapping product
  • Monitor hot glue levels, restock as needed
  • Label and number packing boxes
  • Load siding boxes onto skid
  • Strap skids to prepare for removal to warehouse
  • Perform line housekeeping duties
  • Train other packers as needed
  • Perform other management assigned tasks

Environmental Conditions: The manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as forklifts, buggies, genie booms, and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

What do you bring?

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must complete associated training programs
  • Interfacing with a computerized process monitoring system requires knowledge and skills in the areas of computer navigation
  • Must have a valid forklift license and complete associated training requirements for safe operations and maintenance of the forklift
  • Must have a valid State-issued Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts on days and nights

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week and speak clearly so others understand; vision acuity for this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

  • Manage Schedule Adherence, shift utilization, scrap goals, and % OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) by department. Facilitate problem solving activities to help troubleshoot problems on the production floor. Periodically conducts process/product quality audits and communicate customer complaints. Fully utilize and interface with the MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to ensure complete data input and output on a daily basis.
  • Coach and develop direct reports. Manage departmental activities and coordinate with support departments to meet facility/corporate objectives. Initiate/participate in self-development and training of others. Understand all safety, environmental and quality policies and significant impact of job activities.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Qualification:

  • 5+ years of supervisory / leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in working/leading in a union environment is preferred

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $79,500.00 to $123,500.00 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400.00 to $135,800.00. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
